OkCupid is a dating app worth checking out. For the most part I have been disappointed with my dating app experiences. I have been pleasantly surprised with the results from OkCupid. There seems to be an endless supply of genuine women interested in a relationship. After several weeks of using the app for free, I decided to become a subscriber. I have been satisfied with my decision.
Don't waste your money like I did purchasing OkCupid what a joke unless you're looking for a mail order bride as the stacks of profiles they provide you with, and I had my options wide open, yeah my stacks still became empty after 20 maybe 30 profiles and I was left with only the foreign stack available, yeah Green Card girls. It's as if they have no local customers to show you but I'm sure there's millions of lonely lives that fell for their lies.

Dating app
This went from being the best dating app (2016) to the absolute worst, you can't message, you can't answer specific grouped questions, Christ you can't even "like" more than ten people a day now! They approve accounts that are clearly someone using American Instagram pictures but claiming to be British because African & Russian scammers don't know the difference! It's basically a pile of crap. And then you want £50 a month... seriously?!... Wt* is wrong with you folks!
Be careful, even if you sign up for only 1 month, they will continue to charge you unless you cancel. I recommend you cancel right away if you DO join. You still get to keep your membership for the remainder of the month, it just won't charge you when it's over. The paid version also isn't that great. You're better off just messaging random people than waiting to see who likes you. Messaging is free.
Tip for consumers:
Don't trust them. They will take your money without you knowing and ignore your emails.
Pretty much the same people form all these site si have noticed, after being bullied in a few intros by the same person i reported and now have no access to my account funny how that happened? I only have to use dating sites because i work a weird shift its impossible to meet people, but these sites all seem to have the same people who don't work or have a place to live or just wanting random sex, look go hired a hooker and pay for it if that's what you want. And after you complain to staff about repeated harassment, funny how all my white friends can access their accounts yet mine says server error these days not my service not my device? Guess its my race sadly
I think it might have been good initially when it was started by an MIT grad but there have been 1 or more acquisitions since then and it has really gone downhill.
They took away an awesome feature of being able to scroll through ppl sometime last year and replaced it with a swipe interface that allows you to only see 1 person at a time.
Hello everyone! Please be aware of this OkCupid app. They are full of scammers and will only take your money. Thanks to my stars I was able to recover my funds back from them, they have stolen from me altogether over 60,000 USD from my bitcoin wallet after I agreed to an investment and bitcoin mining for profit. Later, they won't return my messages and calls. I had to follow through with a recommendation from a close friend of mine about Datrek Recovery that was of great assistance to get my money back from these online fraudsters.
Tip for consumers:
Many thanks to Datrek Recovery Company who helped me pursue my claim and money back.
If you're smart, Please stay away from those people on OkCupid claiming to help with crypto investments
Not sure on the purpose of the Paid and Premium $99 for 3 months membership.
A rip off as you get 1x Free Superlike a day, then you have to pay more money to contact people...
These Superlikes are far from cheap.
Or like Tinder swipe right and hope for the best.
It's full of fake profiles, most peole are not resident in the country they claim to be in.
Contacting customer services - Well you have more chance of getting a reply from a paid Superlike!
Tip for consumers:
As OK Cupid have changed the site and not updated their T&C's I have asked for a refund.
But yet to get a non automated reply form the Bot's in customer service....
This site is free to swipe through a deck and it has good filter options. Don't pay to see likes. Likes is an accumulation of people who liked you, even if you didnt hit like on them. So in short, if someone liked you and you swiped left, they are still counted in the 99+ of likes you see waiting. This is in addition to the new persons who like you that you have not yet seen plus the ones you swiped right on. So yes folks you CAN see likes. You will see them eventually in the mixed stack. The match makes you chat with the person long enough. I have only encountered a limited stack maybe once or twice. They will tell you come back in 24hrs to swipe again. The deck also restarts if you have gone through all possible matches. You have the optiom to change your location on there, it then allows you to browse matches in any country. If you are rich and able to travel then that's a great way to meet your connection on an international level. If you have limited options don't bother. For me, men always asked if I were in their country. When I said no, they would immediately stop talking. People on their dislike distance. But some great guys were on there. Scammers lurk too so beware of bad grammar and cliche 3 worded summaries. The real ones will sit and write out a good summary to introduce themselves because they genuinely want to meet someone. Happy searching! May you find the love I have yet to find in life. We all deserve a great love.
Don't spend your money on okcupid! Stay away!
That dating company do not have a system in place to verified members! It is full of scammers and fake profiles! Okcupid won't give me my money back!
Tip for consumers:
I did find a few real people, but most of the time it is a waste of time communicating with scammers trying to get to talk to get your infos!
Okcupid should get a class action law suit!
They went from the very best dating site to one of the worst. They ruined how communications work in some convoluted way that doesn't make sense to anybody. They don't deal with spam profiles at all. And they've become involved politically biased pushing one side over another to the detriment of being a neutral platform. It's a shame about how far from grace they've fallen.
I only used the free service. Went on a few dates with guys who claimed to want to build a proper relationship but seems they would have been more suited to other apps for random one nighters style of things. But hey guys lie whatever app you use... but then a real genuine kind and funny man found me on ok cupid and literally swept me off my feet. Ok cupid gave us a match score of 92%, some of the algorithm it uses are good and some not so. I can't believe how much we have in common despite very different personalities, we compliment each other so well in every aspect. We have been inseparable since our first date, he moved in within a month, helped me to care for my dying dad in my home, has helped to support me in raising my kids, been on holiday together. We have shared every moment of joy and sadness together in the past year. May we have many more together.
I was billed 12.88... 3 times when I only subscribed to one month. Even so after being billed for thee month thee times for 41.00 my account still was not activated. They have no customer service number. When try to access your purchases via okcupid app it only supports Google Play Pay even though they accept credit, debit and PayPal. You have to email your issue and are the told they can't reply to every request or complaint. If they feel your issue is of any worth they will reply as soon as they can on a priority basis. WOW!
It's a ghost city no matter if you pay or not. Is there anyone alive? No response in 2 months (nearly 70 emails sent). I am no Shrek or freak. OkCupid is full of fake and outdated profiles. Maybe there are way too many men and too few women, but there is nothing to do for a man. You get no service, absolutely nothing for the money you pay. Your money just goes down the drain. Meaningless and pointless fake "service".
My name is Mike and am VERY happy to say that I have met my true love on okcupid.com in late February of 2019 Laura's daughter made her an okcupid account. At that time I had just made an account myself, I was the first person to send Laura a private message. We chatted on the site for free, for a couple of weeks, before exchanging phone numbers. We found out that we lived about 5 minutes apart but, we had a really hard time setting up our first date, due to weather, illness, and crazy work schedules. On March 12th we finally got a short meeting face to face. On March 15th, we had our first date. Okcupid gave us a 91% match but we say that it's more like 100%. On July 4th 2020 we became husband and wife. We never would have met without okcupid and it's then free messenger service. Thank you okcupid.
They told me my account had been banned before I saw one match! My credit card(s) weren't accepted although valid. It didn't recognize my password when I added my username and password and entered correctly. It kept asking me to send a code to my phone number yet when it did, or didn't it would just boot me back to the username screen. Stay away from this site. It sucks. Sent an email asking wtf and no reply.
5 years ago, the sweetest soul messaged me through Okcupid and we have been together ever since. Okcupid is the only dating app where I was able to meet people who didn't want to just hook up. I was able to find someone genuine who actually wanted a relationship and we never would have met without the app. I would give this app 1000 stars if I could.
Tip for consumers:
The app was very easy for me to use and pretty straightforward. You should not have much trouble navigating it. Just go in knowing what you want and only accepting those who want the same thing.
So Far So Good, I found some decent dates off this site. I would highly recommend this for any single guys. But we are poly and that does make it hard for me and my wife to find someone else.
Signed up for this site and only used my account for a couple days. Then the glitches started to set in. Cant adjust my profile, cant sign out etc. They want you to sign up for paid features of this crap-o-la site yet they cant even get their free features to work. I sent a report to their 'operations' - they apparently fixed my account and it only worked for one day. Hey tech guys/gals at OK cupid. Sort yourself out and stop asking for money when you cant get the free stuff sorted.
After 6 days on this site i feel embarrassed for paying them and have my picture up. It's a leftover site with fake accounts and the lowest level of humanity. And google had them rated one of the best sites, Google is giving 5 stars to every company who pays them disgusting. Save your money and do a research before you sing up for any of this sites.
OKCupid has turned from a gem to a tu#d. It's not what it used to be several years ago. They took to misleading their customers. They are just pushing packages. Nothing is done to prevent scam so OkCupid accommodates multiple scammers and fakes. Anyway, I left it. It's not worth a cent because their women are not real. I recommend staying away from OkCupid. Basic membership gives you nothing. You have to pay for everything. But when you start paying you find out that all your likes and messages are entirely from scammers.
I've been buying here for a long time. The goods are of high quality. I advise everyone I'll bet 5 stars
Used to be a premium dating service, advertised as 100% free. There is NO option to search for a potential mate. THEY will tell you who THEY have selected for you! I did not realize that we have become some third world country, like China or India! You can't view the pictures of members who have viewed your profile, without "upgrading" (they want your money). They have a dual standard when uploading photos, apperently women can post anything, including photos of kids and grandchildren with exposed faces. (Pedophiles love that!)
Tip for consumers:
Look someplace else!
I am updating my review and downgrade to one star because I have now conclusively ascertained that the site uses robot accounts. (Females reappearing and matching back to you periodically). Beware then! The rest of my review below is still valid.
You get unlimited likes per day and unlimited communication with your matches. The user base is not great everywhere, so it might not work for you at all. In case of a limited (exhausted:-)) local user base, the app will propose to you prospects internationally. A feature that some will hate, others will love. Also, in Europe at least, the site is full of eastern European members claiming to reside elsewhere. I would not call those profiles fake per se, deceiving upon first impression perhaps.
This app is the worst ever! Scam scam scam! Stay far away from this sight! Its all bots and scammers! I dont think it actually has real people on it. They just keep bleeding money out of you! I wish it was possible to give zero stars.
It's good only if you absolutely feel the need to burn your money and time! Seriously speaking, don't repeat my mistake! I had wasted plenty of time and emotions there trying to find a gem among rubbish. Just go to a decent and efficient site with good reputation and you will have plenty of choice there as long as you are a normal and adequate person. I'm using https://j4l.com/402007 And I'm content with it. I found several ladies that I really like, I had meetings with them and now its the time to choose for me!
OLC is so so... Most of the woman are in dream land and seeking Mr USA. And are not going to meet you in person 95% of the time... You really need to weed out the B. S & players... And that is simple to do... If they can't meet you in person in public with in one week. Drop them... Don't waste your time... Next!
Terri - this is what I recently sent in about OKC. I will answer your specific questions at the end of this. I have heard many complaints about OKC and scammers. But I AM NOT HAVING ANYWHERE NEAR THE PROBLEMS THAT OTHERS ARE COMPLAINING ABOUT. I am on several sites, and I experience about the same % of scammers on all. 1) it is so easy to spot a scanner - he wants to use email or text/phone right away. Is this really a problem? I immediately block. 2) if he is in Africa or any other 3rd world nation, I immediately block. I filter my messages so that I do not receive messages from anyone who has answered less than 100 questions or is at least an 85% match. Scammers are so obvious. Also, I note that most scammers claim to be "god-fearing christians," or "looking for an LTR or marriage." I am an atheist and very liberal and state this in my profile and my questions. I know what I am about to say is very offputting, snobbish, elite, etc., but I don't think scammers hit atheist, well-educated, and skeptical people as much as they do others (christians). Sorry, but I did say you wouldn't like that. Scammers are on every site. I have been following the sites and the complaints about scammers. My conclusion, based on my experience, blogs, and LOTS of research, indicate that every site has about the same amount of scammers. Sites that provide almost 0% info on potential matches (Zoosk, POF, tagged, Chemistry, Match, ourtime, etc. - all worthless for matching, IMO) do NOT have fewer scammer than OKC. I am also a moderator on OKC. WORD: Do a GIS on every picture on every profile on every site. It will tell you if the pics were stolen from a commercial source (models, actors, etc.) or not. I have had a ton (sometimes 3/week) of dates from OKC, and I do not believe any of these guys were scammers. Finally, if you know how to spot a scammer, what difference does it make how many there are on any site? I am 59. Yes, I have many very young men contacting me. I just say "You are too young, but thank you for your interest." If they reply, I block. As I stated, I've met tons of great guys (and of course, creeps) and had a lot of dates. I have a lot of correspondence before the date, and make it clear that I am looking for LTR and NOT FWB, NSA (what a load of crap). I have not clicked with anyone yet; but the, I am an atheist, free-thinker, liberal in Texas. Not a lot of guys hit on me (after 18 months on OKC, I only get about 8 guys/week hitting on me. Check my profile: I'm not gorgeous (LIB75002) or email me: joannar75002@gmail.com). I will be happy to help you further, if requested.
You have to understand on clear thing: THIS SITE IS A 2 IN 1 DEAL. People are vetted based upon: 1) their overall attractiveness + 2) their ability to PULL IN MORE USERS I have found an UNDERGROUND OKC and have made some friends in that with my last account, but then admin began asking me strange questions about my experiences there that sounded alot less like SITE PATROLLING and a lot more like I WAS FOUND OUT AS A NON INSIDER among that group. I have a running list of accounts that are "sponsored" by the site. I was among the very first to report that okc was OWNED BY MATCH.COM to be used as its social outlet site. HOWEVER AS OF 2 DAYS AGO A MUCH BIGGER ANNOUNCEMENT WAS MADE: Match.com BOUGHT POF /Plenty of Fish and has bought into /partnered with TINDER. By years end ALSO be on lookout for Ashley Madison to be brought into the fold. WHY ALL THIS: to cut radically the price of the investment & upkeep of all those lab created profiles. BY overlapping data bases and also ADMIN STAFF... The operating costs should have al least a 40% reduction which means 40% more profit. Just so you know Toni, look up Passionate Composer. I will write you back. REAL PEOPLE DO THIS. You may like the profile too. I was among the first to take advantage of the social site move.
If you use care and caution it's safe. Women are subjected to more weirdos but you can block them. Spammers are going to get through and they will usually ask for your email or phone number. If someone interests you message a lot before you meet and always meet in a public place. If someone insists on more than you're comfortable with move on.
Yes, I have had this happen a lot. People just want your phone number because they don't want to use the site. Then they want to ask questions like where you are from. I guess so they can research you. I am real leery about giving out my email and phone numbers. All kinds of scammers out there.
Yes, it is completely free... You pay for the more advanced features, but over the last ten years or so, I have met my last 6 lovers through the site ( though oftentimes it turns out that we already knew the same people... The matching algorithms are simply_that_ *good*!) and have never given them a single penny. ( though honestly, I really should, if only out of gratitude!) Give it a try, it really is head and shoulders above the rest of the sites out there...!
This answer varies with other sites, so i won't speak to those. But as far as my experience with OKCUPID (fifteen years). They answer is yes they do. Not EVERYONE is hunting for a spouse. The current options on OKC are: Hookups, New Friends, Short Term, Long Term. You also can selected if you prefer monogamy or ethical non-monogamy. (There are a LOT of men and women that understand that monogamy is a failed paradigm to expect everyone to adhere to, its not one size fits all. If it was, there would be very few cheaters.) I have found what people select (casual, short term, long term) doesnt really matter. Relationships will naturally seek their logical state. If you meet a girl looking for a hookup and you both have OMFG chemistry, why would you never call her again? That actually happened to me. I met a younger woman stating she ONLY was interested in a summer fling because she would be returning to college in September. It started as casual sex in July, but when when September came we wanted to continue seeing each other. And in the Spring we both realized we had fallen in love almost instantly, we were holding back because we were trying to enforce the HOOKUP paradigm. Most women (and i assume men?) that think they want monogamy will state that in their profile and will ask you your intentions when you start chatting. If you say anything other than "i am monogamous and am only interested in serious relationships" they will tell you goodbye. This is coercion. You have to agree to a committed monogamous relationship with a total stranger... BEFORE YOU EVEN MEET. Take a moment and forget how you have been programmed by society and read the last sentence again and ask yourself if that seems reasonable. But if everyone is demanding it, then everyone thinks its normal and reasonable. I was 40 before i discovered that there are "normal" people that understand humans are not inherently monogamous, society and religion force it upon us and shame us if we aren't in compliance. What happens is that lying, cheating, and betrayal have become normalized, whereas honesty and authenticity are punished. But to answer your question, on OKCUPID there are decent, attractive, fun, intelligent quality people seeking casual and long term relationships. Be honest in your profile and say that you are honest and value honesty in others, even if the truth isnt convenient. Don't say long term if you really want casual, there are other people also looking for casual.
The best way to retrieve deleted messages from OKCupid is to contact the company help line as a kind of authority (INTERPOL, Police...), else, deletion of messages from the personal user members area is dead and gone.
It is free becausr you get to talk to your matches without paying. Those likes are in the deck you swipe through. So you CAN and WILL see likes eventually. I made a review on the site. I have paid for likes in the past. My full review will be released within 48hrs. Check it out! And all the best to you.
